Every single human being can be susceptible to anxiety or depression, and the symptoms and their impact can vary widely from moderate to totally disabling. Conventional wisdom will suggest that the more intense the suffering, the harder it is to improve the condition, but my experience suggests that is not always the case.
When working with people, my first task was to help them change the label they had been given. Who would want to think they have a 'Mental Health' problem?
So, I would throw away the term 'Mental Health' and replace it with 'Emotional Health' a much more manageable condition.
The next task is to light the fragile candle of hope. Without hope, we would all despair.
